edited to add . I peeked in the incubator and lots of chicks in there . I will take them out later .

What is going on here?

I live in the Banana Zone same as Cluckies and Ivie. We have certain expectations because of the climate here. I just peeked at the forecast on my IPhone for next week. We do not get above freezing until next Tuesday. 5 days below freezing?? Come on give me a break. What is a stretch like that called?

I have never heard of such a thing. I thought we were in the midst of global warming. Why am I burning all these old tires if the temps are not going to stay above freezing?

This could mean I have to carry water again. I hate carrying water.

Cluckies. I feed mine cat and dog food, kind of. I am almost afraid to admit this here. but my special birds, get a few pieces of the fake cat food or dog food ground hamburger. I found it turns a stand offish bird into a bird that wants to be held and monkeyed with. I learned this at the Hutch show last fall. When I guy was using it and his birds were going nuts for it.

I find it way more pleasing to tame a wild rooster than Jerry's pervert method

And I know EJB will not think kindly on me for admitting this..

I'm in AZ, but yesterday a couple from MN came by and bought 7 dozen hatching eggs from my "Aloha" chicken project - an American version of Swedish Flower Hens. They are driving home and going to put them in their cabinet incubator. Giving you guys a heads up in case they appear in your area in the future. It is very rare to see them outside of this state. They are pretty spotted chickens, and good layers of cream colored medium sized eggs.

Hope they get home safely and have a good hatch!

Sharing in case they do hatch, and later you guys are like "What the heck are these, and where did they come from?" LOL.

Hi Jerry - I stopped into TSC for feed yesterday and could hear the chirpin as soon as I entered. So I looked. They had a Rainbow Dixie which looked interesting. I walked away.

Ralphie, although I do not condone poultry cuddling in any way I understand that you are an adult and can choose whatever type of entertainment that you wish. The type chosen by the Mn. Deputy Commerce Commissioner or Veterinarian from Baldwin,Wi. would be excluded from the choices !

As relates to the individual who has chosen to seriously critique the Doms. In my experience there are a large number of people who find being an expert is facilitated by a lack of knowledge related to the subject. Perhaps this man fits into that category ?

I would enjoy a meeting with enthusiasts as per BC's suggestion. As relates to Mensa membership, it is not quite as exclusive as one might think. Approximately 1 in 50 U.S. citizens would likely qualify if they chose to become involved.

Seeing all these chick photos and reading about hatching success has me with an itch to get started. However, I am not going to heat any outbuildings or have any chicks in my house. thus I request that all attempt to resist the urge to post chick pictures or prose related to incubation success until May 1st. I SUSPECT THIS REQUEST WILL BE LARGELY IGNORED, BUT AT LEAST I HAVE MADE AN EFFORT TO CURTAIL THIS ACTIVITY.

Do you think (oh could I make a sexist remark

) that we have the 'banana belt' because of that Becker power plant? Our weather seems to be different than everything around us - not always but pretty much consistently different. Warmer, less snow, . . . . .
