Surviving Minnesota!

I just have him hanging out in the "barn" quarantine for a bit. He has some old hens that aren't laying for company and he seems such a gentleman to him!!! I'm completely positive my current rooster would go all ninja on him; and I'm not entirely confident that New Fuzz Butt Roo (aka, Cochin monster) has enough skills to keep my free rangers safe. So for now I go out and visit him and give him treats and listen to him "chook chook" and decide what I want to do. Sooo flufffffffy......

My Cochins have been great flock protectors except for my fufu Bantam rooster who can't even run. He trips on his fluff lol. But with roosters of other breeds they have a hard time with as they can't fight near as hard as slim/not as fluffy breeds.

Oh man I miss my Token Silkie. I never thought I would. But I sort of do miss that Miss Muffet, Dixie.

I've been watching what VJP hatches. I'd like another splash to replace poor Marcella. Dixie had quite the personality! Maybe another someday.....

Okay I just did a little Marans Shopping. The Farm down in Chisago sells a dozen BCM eggs for $125.

It's official. I am in the wrong egg business.
I cannot have $125/dozen eggs go to a Kindergarten classroom. F-Oh-Me....

There was a gal over in Long Prairie --Kris-- doing Wheaten Marans, which I have now fallen in love with--Thank you Ed-- but she seems to maybe have closed up shop. Not much internet activity for her since 2014. Website is a blank page.

Is that Northstar? They were selling 10 chicks for $150 and then each additional chick was $5. Straight run, of course. That seems like a much better deal since you never really know what kind of hatch rate you'll get. Still expensive though unless you get a few people to go in on them and get extra chicks. Becomes a bit more reasonable. I'm clearly still thinking about it! Stupid chickens and their pretty eggs.

Minnie had the scrappiest Cochin rooster I've ever seen. Even after a good a&# kicking, he kept going to the fence for more. I bet he made a delicious soup =)

MR. T IS IN TROUBLE! HE IS SUCH A HORN DOG AND SO IS MY FRICKEN DUCK! The dang duck keeps running in front of Mr. Taking down so he would breed her and it looks like he thought is was a good idea! I have seen this happen but he never actually bred her so I thought they were fine but I guess not! And it looks as though things got a little rough and she has a huge head wound! They are both in trouble and can't see each other for a loooong time! She is now in a cage till she gets better and what I decide to do with her. The part that ticks me off is Mr. T has 3 hens and that's not good enough for him!

Really? Mine are usually pretty laid back! I guess not all Cochins are gentle giants!

LOL that's so funny! only because the stupid duck was askin for it! Bad birdies.

Jerry, although your one post was not 100% politically correct I believe it was 100% accurate.

Ivie, I can not resist inquiring as to what color hair did the milk man have ? LOL - Yes, the milk man; the post man and I was adopted or that I belonged to the Indians.

Ralphie, I thought of you a couple minutes ago as I picked an egg out of the nest box which a Wheaten Marans hen had laid. They do add color to the mix.

I can't say for my LF since they are rarely let outside let alone with the flock. But my bantie is the same way.
