My mom plans on going to the one in August. Not sure if I should go or not. I tend to spend more money than I anticipate. I suppose I better go just incase
there are more Silkies... I will have my testing done by then so i should be able to bring some extra stuff... After seeing Guinea prices I may have to bring some down...

I sold some Khaki Campbell ducklings recently. Purebred $4/each, all 7 for $24. That's a steal if you know anything about ducks. People wanted them cheaper yet. I told one lady to try and find them at a feed store and if she does, enjoy paying $8 per duckling straight run. I said it much nicer, of course. And who knows what crud they come to your home with. But what do I know.....

Long story short, I get what you're saying about people.

She is lucky! When I sold ducklings I sold them for $7 a piece and what I didn't sell I raised to POL and sold the hens for $25 a piece and i sold more adults than i did ducklings.

Minnesotanice I did get some Mr. T babies! I have another broody sitting on 3 of his eggs and then Ethel Jr. is sitting on 11 and one Guinea egg. Don't ask how she got the Guinea egg because I have no clue. She was overly nippy last night so I said screw it and let the beast have the dang thing.

Let me know if you end up selling any. I know they're little, but I already enjoy having them.

Hello all....Holms what kind of camera do you have? Those pictures are amazing quality.

The Benton County Funny Farm added 3 new pigs....Thankfully, they are 4H pigs for the auction....and one for our freezer. Holy mess makers!

As for the bird situation, I am happy to say I just purchased another dog kennel for modified free ranging when we are not home. Just in case you are wondering how you haul a 12 foot long by 6 foot wide kennel. Simply....you sit in the bed of the truck holding it on cross ways while your husband drives down the township road. Yes....hillbilly style at it's finest. Thankfully nobody was on the road or in the fields surrounding the road.

The PC's are being teenage jerks and not letting the buff orps have any feed so they are now seperated. I'm considering putting in a bigger hen to settle the PC's down a bit....but then again they are just being teenagers!

Speaking of teenagers, I was reminded that in a mere 5 months I will have a human teenager. EEEEKK Help I'm not that old yet!

Those pictures are from my phone. I have an IPhone SE and it has a great camera on it. Any pictures of mine since around February have all been taken on my phone except for a few turkey pics. My avatar is a phone pic too.

I remember when we raised pigs... They are indeed messy animals... But some of them are just like dogs and will follow you wherever you go! Congrats on the additions!



ETA the little Buckeye got kicked out into the run for awhile yesterday. He decided to flare up his little hackles at me. I'm sure he got bored being caged up. But I put him with my Bantam Cochin who chased around the run for a couple minutes to get some energy out. He hasn't done anything again. So maybe tossing a hen in with your PCs will get them to settle down

Oooh and I have some exciting stuff going on here. Hopefully starting this weekend I will have the beginnings of a new coop AND the feed room is going to have 2 rows of cages with 3 in each row. The cages will be big enough to hold a trio of huge birds like the Orps or 4-5 regular sized standard birds. We will see what project we do first but I am hoping it's the cages and then the coop. And these plans were all made by my grandpa. So he must not dislike the birds if he thinks I should get more serious about it

Currently I have a mixture. I bought some straight-run mixed heavies from Murray McMurray last year. I have a White Giant rooster, a Barred Rock hen (I had five more, before the mink found its way into the coop one night...), a Buff Rock, Penciled Rock, an Australop, (wow, auto correct just did a number on that word!), a meat-type bird (Not a CX, but a Ranger type), an EE rooster (the only chick hatched here last year) and some mutts. Anything hatched this year will clearly be mitts. I'm looking more toward a dual purpose type chicken than any specific breed.
