Surviving Minnesota!

Congrats layers. Good luck to everyone keeping the tourists at bay. I agree that city hunters are the worst.

I thought I would share a neat culling station my husband created. He doesn't get all the credit though, his uncle built something similar but with a stainless steel trough. We are just poor chickeners so 5 gallon pail did the trick. Ps road cones are on sale at northern tool for less than $8.View attachment 1020862 View attachment 1020863 View attachment 1020867 View attachment 1020862 View attachment 1020863 View attachment 1020867 View attachment 1020862 View attachment 1020863 View attachment 1020867

I am also going to build one of these. I think. I might make a few changed but I like the concept..

I am thinking of putting myself in to the Pope for sainthood...Does the Pope ever consider non-Catholics for Sainthood?

I have proof I am a saint today. I finished my planting came in the house and grabbed a Popsicle to sooth my dry parched throat from laboring in the hot sun. I told Judy it was time to pray for rain, God heard me and the skies opened up...

What more proof does one need?

You can keep your rain. It's finally almost dry enough to get back in the field here. We still have about 300 acres left to plant.

Some pics of the cattle from this afternoon. Calves are all 1 1/2 to 2 months old and growing like weeds!

Even though I had that photo bomb I figured I better post pics of one of the Brahma hens we butchered... she was SO fatty! She was the only bird like this.

The last pic is of her gizzard. It was in the middle of that huge blob of fat.

ETA don't hate on my cat shirt. It was a gift from a friend and is now a farm shirt!

Holm, you have green grass? I'm moving in.
Yes! And lots of it! You should see how tall the hay fields are already! We are getting the haying equipment oiled up and ready to go because in a week or two it's getting cut.

Perfect! I need help cleaning the coop anyways! I am sure you love cleaning coops :D

Love might be a bit strong of a word.

Speaking of tourists you guys farther North are not the only ones with the problems. Hunting seasons roll around during the last parts of my wild harvest times elderberries, gooseberries and the like. I'm not out to bother their game nor am I shooting I'm walking with my kids with a bucket teaching them about wild harvest. They mark their trails here with trash like cans. So when I see trash as a trail mark I pick it up and back pack it. They should learn some responsibility. Others come rushing through and destroy and ravage the plants. They take every thing with their mind on profiting in the cities. Then we have the atv idiots who break all the old berry canes and patches. I take what I use and don't ravage the land or destroy. What are these people being taught. ( I'm turning 33 this july) some of them need a good green switch to the butt
