Surviving Minnesota!

We only got a few drops of rain again last night then the cold front moved in..

I saw on the Mushroom FB page some body got some morels yesterday in Sherburne County. I being a believer in fairy tales am going to make a trip to a not so secret area and see if I can find some. It is a public park so the chances are slim to none.

It is only 56 degrees right now so maybe in the woods the soil temp is still cool enough for them. I will say the picture they posted was some pretty mottly and over ripe shrooms.

Maybe if nothing else I can find some new "non-buggy" oysters. I will bring three bags with me, no 4 bags.. one for old oysters, one for old morels and one each for younger stuff. I think using one bag yesterday ruined some of my oysters. I have found I prefer my oysters without bugs.

Holms, the calves all look very good quality. I am not that fond of black, but the calf in the top photo looks outstanding.

ILL, that is a nice photo of you. You should have it blown up and framed. When you are old you can show it to your grandchildren and tell them that you were young once also .

Thank you EJB. We are extremely happy with the calves this year. They are all out of our SimAngus. He sure throws nice calves that grow fast. He will just turned 2 years old in February and weighs 1900+ pounds.
