Surviving Minnesota!

A crockpot full of sloppy joes works well. You can make it ahead and then put out bags of buns, and just heat it in the crockpot a couple hours before the meal. (I like the pioneer woman's recipe http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/sloppy-joes/) Add bags of chips and baby carrots and you have a meal.

We sell our house this week, and next week we buy our mini farm. So excited!

All ten of my Broad breasted whotes are still alive at day 3 or 4... I ended up taking them out and seeing if one of my 7 broodies would take them. Well this old Aussie girl met me at the door and when I set the babies box down she was on it and walking all around trying to get them so I figured she wouldn't mind taking care of them lol

Oh and yesterday I had one escape and I got him in a corner and when I picked him up I got attacked by my turkey hen... She is a real pain in the ars... That was the second time yesterday... And that time I didn't have a rake or anything and could not get away from that demon spawn. Ralphie I don't know what kind of turkeys you are raising over there but they aren't normal! Ethel Jrs baby is a nice broody but Ethel Jr is not! I hear cheeping down under the poopboard where she is so she has babies. I am just too chicken to go down there...

Memphis. Up here we do Potlucks of noodle salads. Watermelon is easy. Crack open some Chips. Get those quick grill burger patties, buns, or BYO Meat to grill. Let them feed themselves. Most Moms/families 'get it.'

I've had it written down in my calender for about 7 years. LOL. Waiting to show my kiddos it. But now I'm thinking we may not get to see much of it the way I had originally though. Or it will be a quick 1/2 minute versus 2 minutes of totality? I'm not sure how it works.

The last Eclipse i saw was actually on Antigua and we sort of didn't realize it was such a big deal.

The last total visible one before that was in 1979. I was 9 years old and our elementary class in SE Minnesota went outside with our home made visual aids to help protect our eyes. Didn't think it was much at the time. LOL. But very neat while we were in the Caribbean.

Here is more info on the path and times.

Got ads from Mn in the mail . Internet and insulation . Hmm sounds like the county permit office leaks info . Anyway Norvig or whatever it is has seasonal internet rates . Janet called to check it out . Plus I hear her on the phone telling a friend we are going to spend summers at the lake . :celebrate Love it when a plan comes together .

Please send thoughts and prayers to the ranchers and firemen trying to stop this fire. My grandpa and uncle keep cattle near there and the ranch is close to this fire.
Praying for the safety of all involved.

Speaking of roosters . A splash pullet is now a cockerel . I needed one . Sometimes they fool ya .
Sometimes it's a good thing when they change over....

:(

Layers, I hope they get that under control! Prayers.
My idiot neighbors just started a huge fire. It is very windy here, and we've had 2 tenths of an inch of rain in 2 months... cripes. I want anew house, but not a new hen house...
Idiots! :he :th
