Surviving Minnesota!

Hello again chickeners. Putting the weekend cinnamon rolls into the oven in a few minutes. So cute! Little chickie was sleeping on a roost last night under his mama's wing. very close to four weeks old. Been interesting and I am convinced that it is the only way to get chicks. But I am not breeding or showing - as long as the pullets lay eggs I will be happy. Sure is pretty chickie.

BC - don't know how to PM on this thread now. I would love - love - love to meet Sometime. Only 45 minutes from Brainerd. Would love to visit together. Maybe we need to include Janet. Long - lost friend.

Is this too steep? I can lower the top a couple of inches.

I just cannot shut up! LOL. When you are ready to add hardware cloth just staple it around the bottom. I have seen that done on many a coop and it works nicely. You don't have to do all the way up - in mho but what do the other chickeners think? You are the one whose neighbors have BO right? And so far no predator problems. Sometimes the only way you find out there are predator problems is when one has gotten in and you have no chickens left. I believe in proactive instead of reactive. Whatever.

The new neighbor's dog comes into our yard every day, it almost got one of my birds today. I was out and quickly was able to get the dog and took it back to its yard, I yelled
Lori... George.. and no one was around so I found it's cable and chained it up then I saw Lori just pull in by their pole barn. When she came to their camper she let the dam dog off its chain and I told her I tied it up because it almost had one of my birds so she put it in the camper. She said "I was just at the building for a minute" so I know she was lying but I didn't say so. They know it's a killer bird dog so I am really angry she would leave home without tying it up  I wish DH would hurry up with the fence but don't know how well that will work because the dog comes over from the other side of our property some times.

There is nothing too steep about that ramp for chickens. Gives them something to do and they can poop it up just as well as a less-steep ramp. All that grass is going to go down their throats real fast. Nummmmmm.
Nearly finished. Just cosmetics and eventually the hardware cloth and paint.
