Surviving Minnesota!

Dad's birthday on Friday. Supper up in Bogtown. I work Friday during the day. But I do get a lunch break. :ya

With this good weather and only one layer. I'd like to fix my nest box section of the coop to the way that I want them for easy clean out, new fancy access doors, etc, etc... that requires me to have a Saturday and probably a Sunday. Rome was not built in a day, they say...But I have a good plan and I feel like I can zip zip this.

Sent 4 birds to Freezer camp last night. Two spent hens and Sparky Gold wings and Lavender crooked toe. The latter two did not get Dodge Tickets to the land of Lincoln.

Marigold was a 6 year old EE that had not laid an egg in 4 years. She was just a show piece in my lawn. She gave me her sweetest big cheek face before hand. She almost got put back in the coop.
OMG was she a CUTE hen. She was a little snarky on the roost though.

And then the Big Buckeye Hen. She was huge. No doubt she was using food for her body building routine she had going on. She was ruthless at the feed bowl and mean to the others.

(I miss having access to all my old photos bTw) I'm sure you all are missing my photo montages....Darn it. ;) :D

Once I get remaining roosters delivered out and Tilly to my sister there will be 11. That's a little heavy for a winter coop but it will due. And I'll have all hands on deck for laying hens--well other than my only original, Sylvia, blind in one eye, eggless, but exempt of the Green Mile unless illness or natural causes say otherwise.

Ughhh more of those things with claws that twine around legs non-stop... Am I a bad mom because I was secretly happy that the horse's smooshed the last ones she drug home? 1 made it into the house and has already destroyed a couch and is working on a recliner. Could be worse... My swap friends send her home with mystery boxes. Its included hamsters, guinea pigs, a hedgehog, 10+ parakeets, etc. This spring she brought home a pony...

I sold more than I brought.... Got rid of 11 muscovies and 10 or so silkies. I bought some button quail, 1 pair of silkies (new variety as a project), and 2 pairs of really nice bantam Cornish. My kid got a horse manure fork so she can help with chores, a jollyball for her horses, 2 bags of horse treats, and some wormer for her pony. ....lol... the new purple manure fork hasn't helped her do chores either, she's off playing with her new kittens. John said the official count through the gate was about 1850 adults plus all the kids that got in free.

I do have pictures,,If I can find them, in the old system it was easy..

The 20 pound LP tank is in the pen just for size comparison they can be deceivingly small looking otherwise. They are not small.
