Surviving Minnesota!

Found an egg in my Silkie cages. I also have a Dom pullet in the cage... Pretty sure it's the Doms as Silkies eggs are a cream color... But they're all squatting so idk...

Stopped at home this morning. Decided to check for eggs. Found my 5 y/o in the run with the chickens. He said there was a weird thing on the nesting box. I found what appeared to be a large egg, not fully formed. Yolk was all over in the shavings.

Upon further inspection this was inside.

Is that normal? We did have one egg with a soft shell last week.

One is a rubber egg. The other a normal egg. You now have two layers. The rubber egg is a misfiring of the egg tract usually. And especially with young girls. You'll get these quirks. But it may not hurt to offer calcium in the form of oyster shell (found at the feed store) and then maybe a vitamin supplement in the water. A couple times a week for the next few weeks.

Not unusual to find a regular egg inside the rubber egg?

STUPID STUPID CAT!
We have a tom cat running around the yard and now he came into a pen and attacked some of my prized roosters. My husband thinks he shot the cat. 2 roosters still unaccounted for and 2 injured. Both the injured were my breeding stock. (Buff Orp and Buckeye) Into the hospital rehab they go. Meanwhile everything else is being locked tight and a live trap with laced kitty food is available for any other stray cats!

War has been waged......and don't tick off the MAMA BEAR!
