Surviving Minnesota!

STUPID STUPID CAT!
We have a tom cat running around the yard and now he came into a pen and attacked some of my prized roosters. My husband thinks he shot the cat. 2 roosters still unaccounted for and 2 injured. Both the injured were my breeding stock. (Buff Orp and Buckeye) Into the hospital rehab they go. Meanwhile everything else is being locked tight and a live trap with laced kitty food is available for any other stray cats!

War has been waged......and don't tick off the MAMA BEAR!
A cat actually attacked yours? We have many cats and lots of wild ones and not even my free ranging broodies with babies get stuff taken? Are you sure there wasn't anything else? I hope you catch the little buggers!

Oh I read it too quick Tfred. One egg inside a rubber egg is not usual. But again with young girls...nothing impossible as Ralphie said. I've seen a huge egg--looked like a double yolker and when it was cracked open another egg was within it.

So one girl and her little ovaries are sending stuff too fast to the shell maker. Cute. LOL.

That's a MinniechickMomma Egg. From the Classroom hatch this spring.

Are you keeping a breeding trio of silkies until spring Holms? My teacher friend likes silkies.
I am going to keep a trio. If I can't find a home for a pair I will be keeping a quad and am extra rooster.

Her NHs are stunning and quite large!:love

@MNChickMom WOW... A cat attacked a rooster! That is one brave stupid cat.

My cats lie right with the chickens, I watch the cats closely and they seem to give the rooster wide berth. I saw the cat "OC" jump today when he got between "Hobbles" and the newest Cull Dom. They have been having spats, OC got in the middle as the new cull attacked "Hobbles". OC ran, Hobbles stood and fought. Anyone need "Hobbles"?

I have no idea what to do with a 2 year old Dom rooster with no feet.....BTW he is not breeding material. Way too many issues to make a showbird.
