Surviving Minnesota!

I would just butcher. I can't manage to sell extra cockerels so I just eat them... I have a lot of Roos too that need homes but they will only be going to the freezer...
I would, but they would be ready for butcher in late November. I really can't keep them. Once again, if anyone can help me out, please message me.

Rain again overnight . Need a few dry days to get ready to leave Friday . Get bored when I can't work outside . Too hot back home now anyway . Should be cooler there by Friday . So I putter around in the shed . Hey Ralphie knows some nice Asians that like cockerels . Craig's list should get lots of takers .

Morning :)

Hey all! I am in desperate need of help. I have four barred Plymouth Rock cockerels that are three weeks old. They need a new home. If you are near the St. Cloud or brainerd area and willing, please message me!

I agree with the others that said try craigslist.

Kitty's welsummer egg was a quitter. Scrambled egg when I candled. Starting to get smelly.

Btw the auto correct here on BYC is vicious. I must edit 90% of all my posts due to auto correct assuming things for me.

Sorry Kitty's egg didn't make it.

Morning..

A weekend of company so nothing new, BUT this humid heat is terrible, I am afraid of losing birds to heat this time of year!! Horrible.

I lost a cockerel on Friday night. I left the pole barn doors open until 10 pm because of the heat, Something came in and picked off the Dom, I was saving as a back-up for Hutch. I was letting it free range in the barn...

I need to get those raccoon traps, I cannot think of anything else brave enough to enter a barn full of human smells.

Did you see there are heat advisories out for northern ON? They're saying it might be recordsetting or close to. This heat is terrible.

Sorry about the dom...

Hello everyone! Its been a while, I tried as best as I could to catch up on over 500 posts. I am coming to Hutch but I am not showing, but will be there sometime midday Saturday until Sunday sometime. I am just hoping to pick up some Cochins, and maybe some PCs for a friend.
I have a lot to do before winter, it is already getting cold here, Friday morning it was in the 30's! The coop's roof needs some repairs, along with some of the siding. I am still looking for a laying coop, I was hoping to have one before winter.

It is kind of scary looking at how little hay we have... Hopefully the temps stay above zero and we don't get over 60 inches of snow again..

How many bales do you have ILL? How many cows to winter?
30 stacks which we a ton or a ton and a half. And then it looks to be around 20 bales... Good thing the stacks keep the hay in very nice quality and better nutrients, then bales, it really helps cut down on what we feed. We have 60 head, plus 2 jerseys, the jersey×angus steer, and 3 horses. The horses don't need that much, they are better at going out and digging up snow them the cows. And the 3 bulls.
If it gets bad again the cows are going to be put in the corrals, we will probably be kicking ourselves in the spring, but it will be worth it.

Ralphie, sorry to read of the lost Dominique cock. I would agree with most likely coon.
Layers, hope it is a mild fall and early winter with some rain to generate additional pasture growth.
People, myself included we must become more active here. I know they had a long head start, but find it unacceptable that the Cheeseheads have over a million more views than we do. We must cut the gap. Post and View !!
