Surviving Minnesota!

I also set a limit to number of birds I keep for good, in terms of layers. Which is 10 overall. 2 good broodies, a PC, and her "daughter", a PC×plymouth rock. 1 white EE and 1 old looking EE who I named Nancy cause I felt Nancy was a good name for a cranky hen, only to find out I have a great aunt with the same name and personality so now she is a keeper. 2 good roosters, a PC×Buff Chantie, plus his son, a SLW×other mentioned rooster. 1 fun rooster, a Bantam black frizzle cochin.

Well, mom was busy doing all the NPIP paperwork last night, let's hope we didn't get anything wrong! We tested all the birds. There were 60 chickens and 20 turkeys.
So, is it true turkeys require a different test, or not? I saw the mycoplasma test was required for the show entry for turkeys only in Hutchinson but is mycoplasma testing a part of the turkey side of NPIP then?
We shall find out, I guess, but I think Mom has had her fill of bird stabbing for now.

Looks like we might be getting snow next week. I doubt it will stay but that still makes me cringe.

On the 15th I get to do a showmanship demonstration on poultry for the 4H group. Not sure who I am bringing yet, my blue that is my showmanship bird is still molting and I do not want to stress her out even more. The other 2 females also look really bad right now, so it is looking like I will take my black male, which means I need to start handling him more. He is friendly towards me, usually, but is still a stickler when it comes to looking at his feet and wings, and of course he is 2 months bigger since I last handled him
