My egg production is down as well.my fertility down right stinks. Sunday candled (day 14) and took out 40 of 48 that were clear. The other 8 were marginal. Timer and Lights are being adjusted today. (Keeping my fingers crossed my dh can work on it.)

Chicks are hard to get this time of year, even with light. Good Luck on the 8.

I believe we have a guinea homocide! Idk what else would have been able to kill this little butt. A cat didn't kill a guinea? All I can think of is another guinea. Or maybe a some small predator like a mink...

As close as you are to the creek, I would think Mink and weasel would be a constant problem...Trap time..

My guess is it was a noble beast from the VWN that risked its life trying to free you from the noisy pestilences you call guineas.

Weird, poor thing... my experience with minks has been that they strip neck down to the bone (if they eat any) & leave head mostly alone, not chew on it like that. Who knows. A few of the mink kills I saw just had their throats cut.
