Surviving Minnesota!

Whatever you do dont get them from Greenfire Farms... No offense but I cant stand them... I could get better birds for less than half the price from a hatchery...
I completely agree with you! There is no way I would pay them what they want for their birds. I found a guy in CO. Its called Waltz Ark Ranch. Anyone heard of him?

@chickenman121 What are you getting them for? Eggs? Exhibition? If you do get from Waltz Ark, get their European line.
I want to get them for a dual purpose breed that can be self sustaining. I want to use them for meat and eggs and to sell to others around my area as there isn't a breeder for these anywhere near here. I also have BCM, Phu phan, americauna and Bourbon Red turkeys. I wanna grow out roosters for meat also. That and I can't find them anywhere so now I "have" to have them. lol

Good morning Peeples.
I am sure my chickens blame me for the cold weather.

As do mine. I had 4 come outside today. Otherwise no one leaves the coop. I even had to give in and take food into the coop. I had told them they had to step out the door and walk 4 ft to eat it. They refused. I was afraid they would all be stubborn and die on me. So I gave in.

Ralphie, a problem you will have in your quest for political office is that people miss the importance of the real issues. Many remember and want retribution for insignificant happenings, such as the receipt of a citation for exceeding the speed limit.

That has not happened yet, BUT the last time I worked in the District I live in was in the mid-80s so most have forgotten me.

I had to give a presentation today. (Ok campaign speech) The thing that brought me the most problems was "home schooling" and alternate educational alternatives.

I was told I should not support these other educational methods as kids that are home schooled never fit into society and cannot relate to other people......

I think most home schooled kids I meet are head and shoulders above the others. They talk on an adult level with me, are knowledgeable and extremely personable. Really, it comes down to the parents and how a kid is raised.

Of course, the fact they do 15 to 30% better on standardized testing was lost on this crowd....But no one has said anything about tickets or any arrests I might have made.

I suppose had I stopped by the reformatory, I might still have a fan or two residing in there that would hold a grudge.....

I know others have said it.. BUT... THINK PARTRIDGE CHANTICLER!

Huge birds, good layers and the cold does not bother them at all. Friendly, unless they are forced to move to Gilman at young age!!:gig:gig:gig:gig:gig:lau:lau:lau:lau:gig:gig

I love them.

Or Toads, mine seem to be self sustaining. However, we are making a minor change in the recipe for toads this year, to eliminate the single comb, add more dark meat and height and a little more orange color.....:fl The change should help those that seem to enjoy watching the roosters die...:lau:lau

Me too. Have yet to find a nicer breed, & believe me, I've tried a lot. I'd guess 20+.

Very cold here

Put some bag balm on the Cochin cockerel amd cocks comb. They were getting a little purple at the tip.
I still haven't candled the Cochin eggs, hopefully some hatch. Not sure about how many will though since they were about 3 weeks old.
