Surviving Minnesota!

Call us crazy but......my hubby and I decided to surpise our kids with a quick trip up to Bentleyville. It is about 2 hours north of us....yes I said go north on a frigid day like today. We have a small incubator of eggs on day 18 today, and 2 non heated waterers out in the coop. We intend to leave tonight at 4pm and be back tomorrow by 9 am. So hopefully, the birds aren't too stressed when we return.

And now I must confess my "epic" fail....the crafty genius part of me wanted to make things easier when there are 4 primary caregivers to the chickens that reside at "Rocky Ridge Poultry". Don't use chalkboard spray paint on normal plywood doors. You can't erase it! Grrr....

Bummer on the paint...Good to know I have thought of using that..

Bentleyville is cool once..BUT they long lines the second and third times get old!

And some nights it is down right cold there. My daughter takes the girls there a couple times a year. I am hoping to not go this year...

Hmmmm - maybe you could wash off the chalk - then seal it with a wax. I did not know, for the longest time, that it needed to be sealed. And its not just any wax. There is a specific wax to seal chalk board paint. Its might be worth the effort.

I will have to check into this chalk board wax. I don't want to give up on the idea. and dry erase boards are not feasible in my opinion. (Dried out expensive markers that freeze.)

Thanks Ivie!

Bentleyville is nice but kind of a pain because of all the people. They say it used to be much more enjoyable even if not quite as large before they moved it into town. Been here all these years and never gone to it. I can see as much as I wish form the highway or streets of the city.
I don't really care to go downtown but was talked into going to an Xmas party at Valentini's last night. The restaurant was closed to the public for a private party sponsored by a Personal Banker from Wells Fargo. 150 people and nicely done.

Sounds like like a nice Soiree Ed. DH's Christmas Party is a bank Party and there's a few folks that would like to see the party cost divided into nice little checks to each employee. Which may not be a bad-take home since they also house us in the hotels at night. But what fun would that be?! It's actually a good date night for DH and I and he truly enjoys his colleagues. And the small town bank owners love getting us all together. They party like rock-stars themselves. So there you go...

The kids are seeing Bentleyville on their Social media and DS did ask about it. It makes for cool selfies.

:lol::D:):D:lol: :bun

:gig
We have a neighbor that has created their own Bentleyville of sorts and I can bring them there I suppose... :lau In fact that's not a bad idea! :D:D:D:D

Jerry get those knees well. You have to nail some wood together this summer I do believe. Will be interesting to hear your progress with this. I love cutting edge health technologies. It's actually becoming quite an exciting time for medicine. With Immunotherapy for cancer, etc etc.

Dear Dad is doing well. He fell after his cyberknife and broke his L1 vertebrae. Lots of laying around and not doing so much. Depressed. I called for an update yesterday and he sounded cheery and told me hauled in a few bundles of wood into the house! Yay. He also had another spot biopsied near his neck and it was negative for Cancer. Currently Cancer free. Jeez that old codger just keeps ticking. Love it!
