I had a Silkie Pullet lay for the second time since Hutch yesterday and I'm worried she is going to prolapse. She has a red "ball" that sticks out when I went to AI them today... it only sticks out when I AI them but goes back in shortly after I am done. Is there anyway to prevent it from coming out and staying out? With cows we would just stitch it up but that wouldn't work lol...

AND my Dom pullet is really starting to crank out eggs... I think I am going to try and hatch around 50 Doms this year and then quit...



I think just having the lights on when I do chores is enough to kick the birds into lay? I am out doing chores for 3 if not more hours after dark and the lights are in the whole time...

We have a light dusting it appears. It is a balmy 22 degrees today.


I have 2 chickens to roast/smoke today. I am doing them the primitive way and not in the smoker. I am using smoker boxes inside my grill. I am not sure how well this will work. If I don't get them done we might have hot dogs for our Early Christmas dinner today.
