Surviving Minnesota!

Anyone else on here hang something over where the birds roost to help
Keep them warm? I've seen one online that they called a roost hood. Not a heat source but more like added insulation. I'm curious what your experiences are with something like that if you have. Wondering f it's a good idea to drop/hang something above the girls that would
Hold their body heat closer to them
While
The colder air flows above them. However, I'm
Also concerned that it would cause more moisture to hover above the girls and cause more issues with frostbite... Hoping to get it sorted out before the next deep freeze in the next few days. :0

Turkey's can make incredible pets. They can also be incredible pests! It's easy for me....just the two hens. Both of which know their names & come when called.
Ha! That's for sure! When I first got married and moved to the farm, I wanted to raise turkeys. DH is a life-long farmer and has always worked on his own machinery. When he takes something apart, he lays it out in the order he took it off in. That's great - until you have turkeys grabbing the parts and running off with them! :lau (He wasn't amused)

Had the opportunity to see a REAL Hereford today. Don't see many like this now days and even when you do see a Horned Hereford they are just terrible quality.. This was an extremely sound bull that could get out and MOVE for his old age. He was smooth in his stride and was in his work clothes. Couldn't get great pics but he weighed in at 2650...

Also saw another great bull. Weighed in at 2930. Absolute beast of a bull. Not sure what he was... He was red but not a Red Angus. Could have been a Simmi or maybe a Limo...

When I was young on the farm Dad had Hereford bulls and heifers. Black angus too. Last few years he picked up a black angus bull. But mostly I remember the Hereford bulls around.

I’ve heard that recommendation before NewbieMN. I’d make sure that maybe the cloth is changed out every or every other night. Moisture will be sticking to it I’m sure. Cold air will drop. Warm moist will go up.

-15 predicted tonight. Today was a nice reprieve for the birds . They had been cooped for 3 days. So they got access to the run today with single digit above. Had a regular heat wave! I rubbed coconut on juniors wattles. And gave him two scrambled eggs. Ensuring good nutrition while he heals.

New fridge in working. Food loaded. 11 days without a working fridge is nutso.

Nice herefords are so beautiful! My grandpa has I think 2 heifers, and 1 cow and they are amazing. He also has 2 really nice bulls and they are a beast of an animal. My dad and I want a few Hereford cows, they are just sweet animals.
