Surviving Minnesota!

That was not what I meant.. Mike would never sell a sick bird. I needed his bird to improve my flock. I had tp beg him to sell it to me.
Back in the day Mike and I both had chronic respiratory disease in our flocks . Probably coryza . We both got rid of it finally . For many years he would take no birds home from a show . He does now .

Anybody raising Icelandics or other Viking breeds ? How are the combs in cold weather ? I have 2 Icelandic mix cockerels . One rose one single comb . So far they are good . You can tell the single is stressed some . Some pale areas . Thinking thicker combs are helping .

Does anyone around here have good Rose comb brown leghorns?

I need a rooster..

How many of you remember Andy? He is the little rooster I spend months training to wear Purple well so he looked good on Champion row......Then he lost his crest just before the 2016 show....He was a January 2016 hatch...

Well, I showed Andy last fall as a cock to complete the grouping for the Legbar Acceptance into the APA.... Now life is complete for Andy. He has become a breeder as of 10 minutes ago!

His life is good and he has reached his potential. He is now my Gold-Crele rooster. This promotion occured because the rooster I had in there pulled and Erlibrd. He appears to have sat up right in an open window and died for either the cold or stupidity.....Either way Andy has his own harem now!!

Go Andy!

I think the thicker combs do help. I am finding my toad roosters are not being affected as bad by the cold as the other single comb breeds.

Respiratory infections are little jerks, huh? I have a mild strain of MG (educated guess) in my own flock.
