Wind chill is -40 here and real temp is not much nicer. Brought the bantam hens in last night, and this morning I heard crowing coming from the basement. That's a first.

Holms has obviously taken that Guinea photo with a strong telephoto lens ! That -1 temp is criminal. Even here by the big lake it was -17 this morning.

Bantams in the basement. Cold for cunnuck standards even. Just the extension of this winter cold.

That standard roo just looks like he’s been beat bodily with a stick. Worn out. I don’t regret putting in the premier lamp. Girls a fluffed at 6 pm last night. 20 degrees in the coop. Thermometer hangs from a rafter though. Pretty soon I can open the run.
