Surviving Minnesota!

The one on the calendar link.. It was taken in Hutch..

He was mine but MCM stole him by accident.....sort of.

Well you see if the "Old Man" would put on some glasses when he distributes chicks, I wouldn't have "Accident". :lau:gig

We bought some Dominique chicks from Ralphie (or so we thought), we bring them home as day old chicks and we love them up, giving them lots of attention. Ok Ok we put them in the Mother-In-Law Suite (pen above the layers) and watched them grow. One day I sent a picture of Accident to Ralphie saying, "Isn't that cute, this chick is growing a Mohawk".....little did I know he was a Cream Legbar Cockerel. Then we get the devastating news that he is not able to be shown for 4H but he is an infamous CLB. Ralphie says keep him because its just another Cockerel.

Then I heard they were trying to get the Cream Legbar into the APA so I said, sure I can make the trip to Hutch with him. The more people showing the breeed the better. So I toss him in a cage at Hutch. So long story short he is my only Cream Legbar and he "Accidentally" called my place home. So we will keep him as he is a super mellow bird and we love him.

This happens when as a newly hatched chick they jump from tray to tray without the human's knowing.

4H council meeting was cancelled. Good thing too, as I had to finsih my famil which is 1/5 of my biology grade, study for my biology semster, 1/4 of my grade, and finish two PowerPoints for semester tests.
The wind is blowing and there are some drifts out there, hard to tell how much snow we got though.

Morning Jerry....what kind of dogs are you hunting rabbits with? Beagles? Friends father is hunting rabbit with Bassets. Bassets...I'd like to see them work.

Morning. -41 windchill this morning. I was supposed to wake up at 5 to work on a semester project needless to say I forgot to turn the alarm on...

Brrr what a change. Down here in southern MN the wind is howling and temps are back in the single digits and wind chill much lower. We have NO snow..... so much for that winter weather advisory they have been predicting. Last 3 days have been spent scraping built up crap and deep cleaning all my pens. While I was still ambitious, did all the garage brooders and rearranged birds too. Lol realized I have probably over 80 babies and juveniles cohabitating with me until its warm enough to go out to barn. So the lack of laying and cold spell is giving me a reprieve....

I'm also waging war on all the neighborhood squirrels. I was taking Christmas decorations down on Tuesday and those dang rodents have chewed through at least 15 strands of lights. I've trapped 5 of them so far and regularly see at least 2 more.
