Surviving Minnesota!

Morning. 4H council meeting last night, we got some stuff passed figured out that I liked. I fought one of the poultry things for about 10 minutes, but lost since I was the only poultry exhibitor there..

Jerrry - I did the research on the Distilled Water.....neither my local Target nor my local Cash-Wise grocery had any available. And Cash-Wise only had 2 gallons of Baby water left. Target had no baby water either.

ETA - this was East side St. Cloud

My poor Appletini got some terrible frostbite on her feet... She doesn't sleep on a roost at night so I'm not sure how she did it? Just poor circulation? One of my Legbar hens lost a toe too... Booo.... This is the first time I have ever had a bird in the coop get frostbite on their toes... Except for a Guinea that slept outside last year...

Wings are perfect. Tail is not too high. I would definatley breed from her. I'm not sure if it is camera lighting but there appears to be a little darker region right by earlobe. Morgan was nailed in Hutch for quarter sized lighter region that was result of a sun spot.

She has the nice dark color and wider body.

How does the peppering in the tail look? Some is ok....a lot is frowned upon but according to Vern a little bit of peppering the tail will result in darker richer color overall. (So kinda a catch 22)

Are you looking for any young cockerels? My test hatch in November yielded 6 out of 8 cockerels.

She does have a little bit of peppering. Sandy and I visited about that and she said the exact same thing.

If you have a Cockerel with a decent tail I would take him. The Cockerel I have now doesn't have enough tail angle to him. But I will use him for a few months and see what happens but should definitely have an extra just in case something happens to this one I have.

That stinks. Had a bantam pullet start looking like that when it was about -40.
