Surviving Minnesota!

We get enough ice to fish on but not enough to drive on . Some old guy got confused and drove down the boat ramp onto the lake and broke through . He got rescued . So here the only shelter is a popup tent like shelter with a floor . Some just sit on a bucket in the open .

DH just got done spending the weekend on red lake in an Ice Castle (belonging to a good friend) Theres something for you southerners to google. Ice Castle. It’s essentially a cabin/ camper hauled out onto the ice. Spend the night. Spend the week. Whatever you want. In the lap of luxury with fresh fish coming through the floor.

Looks like some back breaking shoveling for our southern counterparts that I’m glad not to be part of.

I need to get bedding out of the coop that looks damp. With the warm up and relative humidity those pine shavings are looking quite saturated. Time to get them on out.

I have never seen a poisonous snake while ice fishing or any snake for that matter.
That is one thing in it's favor. The fish also seem to be at their prime when caught from the cold water.
Do you serenade those birds in the photos with violin music ?
We got very little snow here yesterday, but it has all been concentrated in certain areas due to wind. those south of us are welcome to the double digits of it.
BC, I don't think it right that you would be first post of the day in the dead of the night. You should be getting more sleep I think.
