Surviving Minnesota!

Ok. Next week I think I'm going to keep 8 eggs to try to hatch. I'm hoping for a broody hen, but may borrow an incubator. Should take me close to a week to get the 8 eggs.

So far I have figured this....

1. Store eggs somewhere cool and dry, pointy-side down, turning them a couple of times a day.

Then what?!

I store mine on a table next to my incubator in a turner that is shut off... Not necessary to turn them. I haven’t seen that it makes any difference...

Ok kindergarten class is asking about eggs. Ralphie you have doms , ss, pc’s anything else? Ee’s? Clb ‘s?

Holms , MNchick Mom you have BO eggs? Any other breeds out there?
I have some BO eggs and lots of Buckeye eggs... My BO is slacking and only laying 4-5 eggs a week but I could get you a few of those and Buckeye? I even have some Yoki eggs... I have a lot of pretty Olive eggs too...

Dates for picking up would be 14/15 of April so she can set on a Wednesday and have days on either side of the hatch day in school. We’re going to figure out some homing stuff too for successful hatch see what those folks want.

Holms do you have Cochins ? I thought you did. I know Layers does but she’s waaaay West.
I do but they are SLACKERS!!!!!!!!!! They haven’t laid yet and the pullets been squatting for months... The best I have from them is mutts right now...:he
