Surviving Minnesota!

Been busy. Soccer tournament in cities last weekend. In Iowa all week for training. Meet family for last soccer tournament this weekend in Blaine, then back home.

Sold those 4 pullets and cockerel last week. This morning my kids went out to do chores and someone left the top off the run for the young stock last night.

They were all accounted for, but the cockerel I had hoped to replace rooster with ran into woods and kids couldn't find him. 8.5 weeks now. Hoping he'll find his way back, but not optimistic.

Hey all.. Got some cows sorted today... Got heifers in corral with the Angus bull and the big bull out with the cows... Big bull has already bred a cow...

We have a lot of pasture this year... Cows are getting really fat... Calves are getting fat.... If they cows are putting on weight eating just grass and raising big calves we must be doing something right?

Tomorrow is my last day of helping with vacation bible school... Then my parents and siblings are going out of town this weekend and leaving me home with the dogs..

Our calves are putting on really good weight too! Sometime in July we have to take the jersey heifer out to get bred, I need to get a pictute of her because she is such a good looking heifer and she has such a light color compared to any Jersey I have ever seen.
Also I am starting a new adventure next week, basketball, I guess Junior year is never to late to learn! I figured if the coach personally took time to find my number, contact me, and offer to personally work with me that I might as well give it a try after the last 5 years of people trying to get me to join.

Our grass continues to grow a lot around here too. At work we have horse pasture (summer camp) — there was an over abundance of daisy and yarrow choking off the grasses from poor pasture management last couple years. This spring we put herbicide down and the pasture is looking great. I think the weather has cooperated for this as well. Seed heads are already dangling out there in beautiful waves of grass.

That's exciting @MargaretAnneHK! I forgot to text you that the eggs I got from you are developing! I haven't gone through and candled them all, but so far every one I have tried seems to be on track! As far as getting some Muscovy eggs to you I have 6 setting now, so maybe the best bet will be as ducklings at this point. I'm hoping they are better at hatching then they were last year and I'll actually get some. One of my BLRW hens is also sitting on like 5 Scovie eggs, so we'll see how that goes haha. I figured if she wanted to set I'd just let her and get it over with.

Riddle me this why is every one more concerned about fresh unwashed eggs from this morning being on the table than what's in the bowl? When did america get to the point of not knowing how basic things work.... I was told to throw away the eggs but that the strawberries were perfectly safe. So is every one dangerous like me or do you immediately wash and refrigerate? ( if they're clean I dont wash )
