Surviving Minnesota!

Riddle me this why is every one more concerned about fresh unwashed eggs from this morning being on the table than what's in the bowl? When did america get to the point of not knowing how basic things work.... I was told to throw away the eggs but that the strawberries were perfectly safe. So is every one dangerous like me or do you immediately wash and refrigerate? ( if they're clean I dont wash )View attachment 1431225

I don't wash them if they're clean either, no worries. The strawberries? depends on where they came from.

You wouldn't have to wash your own strawberries unless you sprayed them with something or they had dirt on them... or if you thought bugs crawled on them? :tongue

That's exciting @MargaretAnneHK! I forgot to text you that the eggs I got from you are developing! I haven't gone through and candled them all, but so far every one I have tried seems to be on track! As far as getting some Muscovy eggs to you I have 6 setting now, so maybe the best bet will be as ducklings at this point. I'm hoping they are better at hatching then they were last year and I'll actually get some. One of my BLRW hens is also sitting on like 5 Scovie eggs, so we'll see how that goes haha. I figured if she wanted to set I'd just let her and get it over with.
Thats so great about the eggs!! :) :) I was 99.9 percent sure you wouldnt have a problem with them developing but its wonderful to hear it!:) Keeping my fingers crossed about Muscovies for sure. As far as duck eggs, right now I have 18 Blue Swedish in the incubator, along with the OEGBs and guineas plus the 10 Icelandics in the hatcher. Hopefully incubating some Hedemoras for myself once all these are done lol.

If they are clean, I dont wash them either as they go bad faster when the bloom is gone. Just my take on it. I only wash them right before use.

Good Morning all....

Nice day so far. It is going to get hot. I am walking a parade in Becker today alongside a float, anyone wanting to walk with me or ride the float is welcome to join me.....Especially if you want to wave palm leaves behind me to cool me off. It is suppose to be hot and muggy again.....

Nothing new on the chicken front. I will be moving turkey eggs to the incubator today (if I find time) or tomorrow for sure. I need to set more toad eggs. I did have 2 more toads hatch last week.

I brought some SS chicks to a 4h kid the other day. I have never seen a kid more excited over 14 straight toed SS chicks. He talked my ear off for about 40 minutes. I never did see his parents, but I saw all his chickens!:gig:gig:gig:gig:gig:lau:lau:lau

Good morning everyone :)

Ralphie why do you say straight toed SS, do they often have crooked toes? I'm wondering because one of mine has a crooked toe but I think it may have been broken when she was younger... ?
