It paid for three state trips and will also get 10+ bags of feed!Fantastic result for the Holm family ! That $500 should help with the feed bill just a little.

I think milk weeds are beautiful. I don't pull them from my flower beds either.Been puttzing around and found some things in the weeds that my mother tried to scream at me to pull... I guess it detracts from my house... hmmm. But being garden ministry I couldnt bring my self to kill the "weeds" glad I didnt. Counted five of those suckers in different growth stages. I think I'll keep my weeds that make my house look horrible from the road.View attachment 1487670View attachment 1487672 View attachment 1487673
Our county sprays the ditches... I had flowers planted around my mailbox one summer. The county sprayer came by, and killed them all.Milkweed in Road ditches is about the only 'safe place' for them any more, until the county mower comes. LOL. I still have yet to harvest a few pods and start the milkweed garden I've been talking about for a few years. Bobbij you might have eggs and babies on there that you don't know about...?
They were such a weed on the farm and the resort for all those years. Who'da thought back then that we'd be losing the monarch in such large numbers.
That would be cool. Did you just take the plant that the cocoon was attached to and put it in the aquarium? We use to raise a lot of Monarchs. After my grandma died we quit but we would find them and put them in big aquariums... Then release them as the changed....
Nope we took the caterpillar. I believe it’s called a chrysalisThat would be cool. Did you just take the plant that the cocoon was attached to and put it in the aquarium?
That's awesome! Every time I put a caterpillar in a jar, and fed it leaves, it died...Did that with the kids when they were little. We found a good sized caterpillar put it in a jar with holes and a stick. Fed it the milkweed leaves and soon it attached to the stick and formed the green chrysalis with gold spots. Kids watched it come out of the chrysalis and dry it’s wings. We named it ‘Charlie’ and whenever we see a monarch we say, “There’s Charlie!”
Lol
