Surviving Minnesota!

So my father-in law got his first job outside the farm at age 60+. Pretty relaxed hours setting up the new international dealership in St. Cloud. This causes my son and nephews to “have to look after the farm”. So they have adjusted their hours to help grandpa bed the steers, grind feed etc. they took the liberty to set a live trap by the sweet corn patch. So far they have trapped 4 raccoons. The most recent one filled the trap and because grandpa wasn’t home to allow them to shoot it, they moved the trap to the yard. “Where grandpa could see it and take care of it.” Thankfully, grandpa didn’t reprimand for not shooting because then momma bear would have come out. Instead he calls and says, bring more fresh eggs and set the trap again. All the while grandma is in house wondering what was barking at her from the trap. :)

I’ve gone through and picked the birds I think will win Standsrd breeding pen... A trio of White Cochins (the girls last name is Klehr so I’m thinking she had a good bird source;) And a Standard RIR pen that Rademachers brought in... That’s one heck of a Cockerel in that pen...

Interesting. The RIR's are looking nice. Looking forward to it.
