Surviving Minnesota!

is this hen of the woods? Is it edible?

Yes, the wave action on Lake Superior was dramatic. The Lake Walk is very much damaged again. Politicians and city officials seem unable to understand that this will keep happening? Big bucks to repair again and again.
This morning is different. Wind has subsided and snow on the ground. Not by the lake but on top of the hill.
The chickens will be less than thrilled when released to free range.

18 here this morning. Thankfully it is getting below freezing at night. Our roads have been awful with mud, on Tuesday I barely made it up a hill on our road and on the way home I was going sideways the whole way down. So now it is frozen or not as muddy which is nice

Lost a total of two Jersey's from the order yesterday. Different hatchery from my first order. Only one day shipping USPS, and that seems to be a huge bonus. Everyone is drinking/eating and moving around. The last one I lost seems to have been from a broken neck. Just got stepped on in the wrong place.

Plenty of room, just bad luck.

On a different and happier note, I think I ended up with two bronze breasted turkeys from my first batch of "hatchery choice". I'll post some pics later.
