Surviving Minnesota!

The era of Cuddles has passed. Cuddles was found non-responsive under his feeder at 3:12 pm today. Efforts to reverse rigor mortis and revive him failed. The first responders refused to give him needed CRP.

Here are a few Cuddles pictures. This is him in January 2016 wearing his stocking cap in sub zero weather..

This was November 2015 when he kicked butt in New Ulm.

These are just pictures he posed for over the winter of 15-16 as he sat in confinement in a heated cage to keep his comb intact. Note to all... keeping a rooster in confinement for 6 months with no contact with any living creature except yourself, will turn them into a lap chicken that follows you like a dog...

I will miss him. I was trying to decide whether to breed him or a cockerel son of his. I guess I will use the son now.

Well this was my final choice. His calves are a little bigger than I’d usually want a heifer to have but we have had bigger. His EPDs are beautiful and he’s built beautifully too.

This heifer is big so I’m not too worried. She weighs 820lbs at 8 months. She put on almost 40lbs since Thanksgiving (amazing growth rate considering they only got a few cups of feed per head per day) so I’m sure I’ll have her plenty big next year. She’s a good heifer and I can’t get good pictures of her as this frozen ground is hard for them to stand on and look decent...

Yes Holm's that bull has very good EPD's, but the one for birth weight is a concern. What will be the cost for a vial from that bull be ?

The little woman has baked 7 kinds of Xmas cookies. Something caused the first batch of Spritz to disappear so a second batch was made, and that one has nearly completely disappeared as well.
The tree is not up, I don't send out Xmas cards and I don't put up Xmas decorations. Bah humbug I say !
I will unwrap my gifts however, as it is the only polite thing to do.

This is seemingly the time of year for poultry fatalities. The weather conditions place added stress on birds in many cases which seem to factor into this.

No fair, did you steal your weather from Florida?
The rest of Minnesota has their normal 20-40 below snowstorm weather... I being such a wonderful person am blessed and have a area of fair weather around me.. and I live in the widely known and written about Banana belt of Minnesota.

Now it is possible an older gentleman from the Duluth area will accuse me of doing a Holm and throw the bull here.. but I swear everything I said is true. Please remember me on Election Day..

So does the bit just north of Minnesota!
Sorry... I'll only vote for you if you get Mandarin ducks. It'd really improve your public image, you know.

$50 a straw. Was looking at two other bulls from Griswold Cattle this morning. I believe it was Legacy and Gold Standard?
