Surviving Minnesota!

I survived. My upper 'abs' are a good sore. I did not fall and bonk my head. although given my snowpants and tighter winter coat I laid on that ice like Randy, Ralphie's brother rolling around like a sausage to find some footing to get me off the ice. I need to drop a few. I can't be Randy at Ice Bocce any more. If you all are interested in Ice Bocce and What we do here's a link.
https://www.facebook.com/Longville-MN-Ice-Bocce-Tournament-201123077502/ You slide wood pucks with handles to get close to a pick (smaller puck) and you have to slide on your belly to send the puck. There's an auger hole on each end of the lane to put your foot in and before your foot leaves the hole you have to release the puck. Points are scored if you are the closest. A match is 6 ends of the lane. up and down 3 times.

It's an absolute blast. This is from a person who's comfort zone in the winter is the couch with some knitting and the little pathway from the house to the coop and back again. You giggle and laugh outside all day. Too much fun. People love it. Young and Old. You meet new people...it's great.

Layers I'm so proud of you making homemade soap. Now are those full size cochins your hatching? Precious babies.

Have we been invaded by dux and pigeons on this thread?!

I just have boring old chickens. Ahem. I too noted a heavier build up of frozen chicken poop chips on the cut open feed bags under the roost after the vortex. I finally got to them this morning before work. Okay. I'm weird but I find it so satisfying putting those frozen bird chips in the old feed bags knowing how rich the garden is going to be with them! Recycle, recycle.

Sunny Two, The NH seems to have her wattles under control again. No permanent damage to the skin that I can see. She is still a nervous Nelly about jumping down. She's a bit heavier hen I guess and also her bumping her thumb and making it bleed has probably made her more cautious. At any rate she waits for me to lift her lovely golden fluff off the roost each morning and she trucks out to see what's left in the run for scratch, spinach, and scraps. She's a cutie. Freya the barred rock rescue continues to ask me questions and follows me around quite alot. As I was organizing the coop she came in and questioned me. I added the new straw she had questions about that. I asked her where all the straw bale had went and she showed me that she had shoved it and scratched it all back behind the broody coop, as she jumped up and started scratching on the bale that still has its twine around it. Such a striped bird...

A fresh coat of fluffy snow here- maybe 4 inches, it's still snowing. It's 10 above and it will just get colder as the day goes on.
