I found an empty Chanticler shell in the pen today...I might have to trim beaks mercilessly..

Can they still free range without beaks or will I be stuck feeding them all summer too?

Roll-out nesting boxes... not very chickenish I realize but still...

It is supposed to be -17 tomorrow night (and nearly that bad for the foreseeable future) and my chickens’ bucket deicer is throwing the circuit. Only available on Amazon that I know of (around here anyway). I guess it’s gonna be water in the resin treat pan for a few days. I hope they don’t get mixed up and hop inside like they do when I dump in the left-over spaghetti.

I have a group of 3 week old bantams in the house, they are getting an eviction notice on sunday

3 - 4 months sounds right if no heat is supplied . Hey we had a sunny day and 40 . Going to be frigid again Monday morning . I did work outside today .
