Got to brag a little . Yesterday I carried 7 eggs in my coat pockets and didn't break any . Today I did nine . You know I just jinxed myself .

Yes it’s a steel roof, when he decides to do something I can’t stop him. The roof rake doesn’t reach far enough.

Still snowing, some drifting but not that much, and not a lot on the ground that wasn’t already there. Weird. It’s as if most of it is staying in the air. Wind is 16mph according to our nifty weather thingy. It turns out 16 mph is faster than I thought, at least it is if you’re the wind.

I was doing that. Of course all of mine are virgin eggs, but I got a new super-duper flashlight and wanted to see whether I could see anything inside (air pocket? Yolk?) Nope, but I did see something that surprised me. Quite a lot of them had wee little cracks in. Oops!

Would anybody in the TC area (I'm in Roseville) happen to have about a dozen fertile Black Australorp eggs and/or a dozen Barred Rock eggs I could buy from them? Or maybe Rhode Island Reds or Orpington or the like if not the first two. Just getting going with chickens and trying to do it on a budget. (I see ordering eggs online doesn't make sense as they cost more than day-olds, especially with my possibly bungling the incubation... Have a bunch of quail hatching in a couple days, so we'll see if I am successful there first. )
