Surviving Minnesota!

Beautiful day here. My SIL and I just got back from 3 hours of Snowshoeing. It was great this morning, the snow was frozen and we could walk almost anywhere without breaking through. We found some chaga about a mile from the house. We did not have anything to hack it off the tree with. I am planning on going out this evening or tomorrow before church to harvest it.

We checked every birch tree we could see and only one had it. We do not seem to get chaga as often as they do north of the banana belt.

Single egg in the hatcher is still an egg. No pips yet that I can see.

Look at the price of Chaga!!

IAlso the maple sap flowed a little in two trees yesterday...I got about 2 gallons in 2 of my buckets. The nice thing is it froze so I could through the H2O ice away and not have to evaporate that...

Give that poor girl some eggs to set!!
She is on some really smelly old previously frozen eggs...

I might try and slip the unhitched chick egg under her if it does not hatch before dark..

Approaching this hen on her nest is dangerous!!! She does not seem to like me.
