While I do like some of the adventuresome back boondocks reality TV on the Discovery Channel. I find the pervasive Californianess seeping into their productions. The unrealistic drama of finding Bear Poop that boo-boo probably dropped a week ago, etc.etc.
Nekkid and Afraid. We've all done the Undie and PJ Run to the coop with predators around no doubt. Am I right? Good enough....

Ralphie. I know why you're watching that show.....

Nope.....They show nothing.....ever. Highly pixilated...

BTW ... I have finished syrup making I ended up with 8 and 1/3 gallons! I am happy with it......a certain wife is not happy with the way her kitchen looks....But HEY!!

Overcast here, it rained off and on yesterday, which did nothing to help my head cold.

I went to fill water and feed in the morning and the mob overwhelmed me and let themselves out to range early. I felt less than myself, so I said f it, and watched them immediately wander to the neighbor yard. Luckily it's a rental and there is no one there right now. Later in the day they found my front gardens and proceeded to mock my no front yard rule. They will not get me today. I plan to stuff my nose with tissues, flush my eyes with saline, down some aspirin, and get stuff done. I hate being sick.

Mostly cloudy with bits of blue sky 'trying'. Chickens are out. Labrador is out with them. She wanted to do her day napping inside. I put a towel on the deck and she can do it there.
Those birds just loving the free ranging. Finding the clover sprouts and new tender blades of grass. Worms in wet leaves. I had them locked up yesterday due to the rain all day. They would have just looked for shelter yesterday anyways.

I guess I have a lap chick. He was being picked and pecked to death. Silly thing runs and jumps in my hand now.

My broody hen keeps moving nesting boxes. She's been sitting for 8-10 days and has her breast all plucked. But each day she's sitting in a different box on fresh eggs. I think when she gets out of the box (no matter which it is) someone else comes in it. When she comes back she goes to an adjacent box and sits on new eggs. How do I get her to go to to the same place each day or keep the others out of her box?
