Eagles have been hanging around getting the dead fish as the lake is thawing there had to have been at least a dozen. Chickens were out, no problems as I was keeping watch on everyone.

Mine will be locked in poultry netting paddocks in the summer... if summer is even a thing any more. (Global warming has taken it away.) I haven’t figured winter housing out yet... Lots of pine shavings tho, if their brooder is any indication.

Here is proper winter lodging for dux or geese..

Good morning! I got to sleep in this morning. Kids are going to do chores this morning, so can go straight to work. Well, after I sanitize and start the Hatcher.

Last night my family helped me to do the annual flock testing. Some of my birds are not receptive of a quick poke or being taken away from the ladies. Normally, I do my testing in June but with a shortage of reacting agent we were told to test early when we still had unexpired agent. All I’m going to say is my roosters were doing there job of protecting their hens. Hubby held rooster from the pen while kids grabbed the hens, it worked well.
