That eel looked like a Lamprey to me. The eelpout was somewhat unusual in the river, as they are usually in deeper water.
Years ago when young the wife and I were canoeing on the St Louis river above Cloquet and happened on several set lines attached to trees. A few had catfish on them.

Up at Mom’s.
Fox ran through our yard at dusk last night. Sadie barked and it took off before shots could be fired. Because we will be gone no free ranging today. And it’s so nice out today...

Beautiful morning up here. Rain went through last night and it's nice and warm this morning. Hoping it stays that way all day. We have our family dinner today, haven't seen my oldest son in a few months, so it will be a great day!
