Surviving Minnesota!

Morning all...

I thought I would share my excitement with all of you!!!

The Sasquatch family I share the cabin with are so excited. While perusing the Governor’s budget, I found this:View attachment 1855983

The town of Togo is maybe 5 old houses and a falling down barn...it is an unincorporated area wholly within Carpenter township..

I am so happy to know the Sasquatch’s will not have to use the outhouse anymore!!!

This excites me almost as much as learning we are going to spend 21 million to “repurpose” the Monorail at the state zoo into a treetop walking trail.. I guess the monorail is too 2000.
:barnie:th:duc So typical. Sigh.

Thanks Ralphie. I’m not going in with them until the girls are bred. I suppose I could isolate him in his own little paddock section pretty easily while I’m brushing them. To me, I think of a “paddock” as something made of temporary (electric) fencing and a “pen” as something more permanent or at least made of steel panels. My own little personal lexicon. :lau Nothing with any actual grounding in linguistics that I know of.

Hi all. Newbie chicken owner here in Hutchinson. Just dropping by to say hello.

I have 15 little chickies, and in the process of convincing my husband that we need a pair of geese along with a few other critters. Those will come next year, I'm sure.

While the chicks are in the brooder, we are fixing up our coop. My husband is building a new door, and we need to cover the run. Being it's getting a bit late in the season, and we have a ton of projects, it might just have be netting on posts the remainder of this season.

It seems like you guys have a fun group going here. I look forward to chatting with you all.

I am glad you found your way to us!!

Hopefully, we will see you in Hutch in October.. when we take our birds for car rides.

They love car rides don’t they, wheather it’s to the fair or the processing plant

Mine have never taken a car ride to a processing plant.

Hoover is a veteran at car rides. Between Mnchickmom and myself he has taken more rides than most birds...of course, he is kind of a gadfly, never sure where he will spend the night.

I was thinking about you tonight during chicken TV time. I had one of my SS poults sitting on my knee and chatting and whining about everything in her day..

I can’t believe you had unfriendly SS...

I should have eggs hatching tomorrow, maybe the next day. I'm the worst at keeping track of eggs under broodies, and even when I do mark the day I set them on I usually put the wrong day!

Speaking of Hutch, I am very excited for it this year, most of my hens should be in condition and hopefully I'll have a couple of younger birds also. This year I'm planning on just doing Hutch and then probably Columbus. There is talk of possible an all cochin show in Iowa and if it is after Columbus I will go to that one also.

Here are the cockerel and what I'm guessing to be another cockerel that I got at state fair. The one in back had red leakage, but amazing foot and shank color, plus the red leakage will had some better sheen and wider feathers. The one in front also has great foot and shank color, and so far looks good
