Survivorman VS Man vs wild

Bear, that other moron wouldn't survive two days alone. People think he's all tough because he doesn't have a camera crew, but he's plain dumb! Do you see how he sets the camera up and then walks a mile to get a good shot, and then has to walk back and get the camera. And he also goes out with survival experts before they record so he can learn how to survive. Bear doesn't do that. Les also shows you made up scenarios that probably will never happen. Bear just shows you how to survive from EVERY angle. And how about that time Les was making a spear and slipped the knife and slashed his leg to the bone, I guess that's skill. Bear may do some gross stuff, but you can be all cute when trying to survive!!!! That's my 10 cents,

PS: Bear DID climb Everest don't you forget, you think that was a walk in the park!

Both shows are a bit over the top.

Bear is really setting the stage for someone else getting seriously hurt or worse when finding themselves in a bad situation. Lost in the wilderness, running and jumping across things, down from things, climbing things that most likely do not need to be climbed upon. None of these are survival techniques, that are a very good way of making a bad situation worse.

At least he could preface all of his antics with "don't do this at home".

Rule number one when lost in the "wilderness" is do not make matters worse. Go ahead, jump off that ledge and break your leg and see how the odds of survival improve for you.

Other than that, we watch both shows occasionally, pure entertainment, "Did you see what he did that time? Hilarious!!"

I'm going with Les. I've watched every Survivorman episode
at least 10 times.

I've tried to watch Bear but end up changing the channel.

There is no question both of these guys are tough. They are
also both trying to make a show that people watch. Bear
is more of a showman and adventurist. Les is more the photographer, teacher, and survivalist.

I must differ with anyone calling either one a moron.

We have watched both in our house. In our house Les is preferred, gives some real practical ways of surviving, Bear was good to watch but the extremes were a little too much. Kind of lost respect when it got out initially that they went back to a hotel at night to sleep. Bear is nice to look at, Les has the more down to earth looks. If I had to be stuck with one or the other Les would be it. Atleast we have a chance of a fire and shelter. Unless that is you got stuck with Bear and his crew, lol then you would have a back up team. I had heard that Les does gather info for the area he will be in and seeks out guidance, but in the end gives you some practical information that most people can understand and employ themselves (like starting a fire using the fuzz from your cotton socks, never would have thought of it). I don't know about everyone else but I don't normally carry survivor gear in my car or purse on a regular basis. That being said, I use some of the info to file away in the back of my head for when the hurricanes roll through and we may need to survive for awhile in rough situations.

I agree that both guys are tough, and would fair very well if put into a survival scenario. It is the "made for TV" shenanigans that ruin the programs.

I'd rather be with Survivorman. He seems more real. I did watch a show with a guy named Mark something that was a survivalist military style .... he was not bad on the eyes at all! He showed how to survive with just a machete or without anything. Can I be lost with him? Pretty please!!!
