Hi Chicken fanciers!
I need you're help/suggestions with a sick chicken. Susie is a 2 year old Rhode Island Red. She seems to get sick every 2 months with something. Before, she had problems with an engorged crop. I separated her from the flock, gave her apple cider vinegar and a suspension from the vet...and she was as good as new!
Now, Susie is displaying the same symptoms, minus the engorged crop. Her combs are falling down to the side, she's listless, no interest in eating/drinking. She's in the garage in the "recovery" coup with a heat lamp on her, water in a drip bottle with a couple of drops of apple cider vinegar and bread. I tried examining her vent...which she didn't like!....and I didn't see anything unusual, but then again, I really don't know what I'm looking for! Her poop is on her rear feathers and is a yellowish/whitish mix. I felt around her rear area to check for a bound egg, but then again...I don't know what I'm feeling for.
I would appreciate replies on what to do!
Thanks!
Fiona
