Hi, my colleague and I, about 40 miles apart in NE Ohio, both started losing waterfowl to botulism about 12 days after bring home $0.50 Hoover's meat birds from family farm and home. She had one of her ducks tested by the state authority and it came back as botulism. My turkeys have bloody noses and stagnant growth. She list three hens; some of my hens were sneezing but no losses. I lost 8 goslings, one duck; another duck is mostly paralyzed. I've treated them all with antibiotics, b vitamins, and today colloidal silver.

Question: I still have 60+ meat birds from Hoover's. Should I cull them all and if so how do it?

No, we get our feed from local off-grid mills, different mild but sane character.
Botulism is caused by ingesting feed or water that has a toxin produced from Clostridium botulinum. Birds that are not showing signs there is no need to cull them. Did you both buy your feed from there as well?

Then it was caused by the food or water given to them before you got them. I would give that store a call because they are feeding something they also sell in store. If it was the food the entire batch is bad. The manufacturer needs notified for a recall before anymore bags are distributed.

Are you sure? My friend and I both got meat birds from different family farm and home stores the same week. Hoover's cancelled their bird shipments this week. When I called them they said to get a broad spectrum antibiotic and plenty of fresh air. It sounds like they knew about it.
