Suspected EYP

Can a chicken do this once or twice and the revert to normal? I have a hen who just did this this morning, after acting weird last night... she was open mouth breathing and not acting like her usual self.... so this morning when I got her out of the cage in my room, there was a egg yolk color mixed in with a normal pop and then she has a very watery and yellow egg colored poo a short while later. She laid a perfect egg yesterday morning and has been acting normal until last night. Had one hen lay lash eggs and eventually die from whatever caused it a couple months ago. Is it very contagious? Could it be a fluke from stress? Sorry to the OP for piggybacking but our situations are so similar. Thanks everyone

My recommendation comes from a combination of what I have been told to give by a veterinarian, what other people have reported being prescribed, and what is in the veterinary textbooks I have access to.
The pictures I've posted and the outcomes are from chickens here.
I can only state what I've had direct experience of.
The poop in the last picture was from a hen that died, despite the best of my care including a vet visit, a fecal float to rule out the obvious and two weeks worth of intensive care, including tube feeding, vitamin supplements and crop care.
The hen in question in this thread is I assume a hatchery Leghorn. Statistically they are prone to reproductive disorders at a comparatively early age.
I hope I'm wrong.

Fair enough, I was not trying to start a fight with you, I was just trying to let @DobieLover know that poop like her hens poop is not always terminal.

Ditto

Not all can be cured, I know this. I know if I took a hen like this to my vet they would do all of the tests, and if those tests were negative, they would probably prescribe prophylactic treatment for a bacterial infection and worms.

I know this, but IMO, this is no reason to assume the hen is going to die.

Exactly how many dying chickens have you got?
I've seen poop like this twice in a decade. Both hens died.
The picture in question was poop from a hen who died from internal laying. She even went to a vet and worms and coccidia were ruled out.
The sensible thing to do is to rule out what one can with a fecal float. Then you won't be administering unnecessary drugs which may interfere with a recovery if it's possible.
The way I see it is if she's got EYP or cancer nothing I do is going to help her.
But if she is overloaded with worms that may have caused an infection, I'm going to try to treat it.
We've had a non-winter this year as I'm sure you remember. I live up on a glacial till mountain covered in non-draining hardpan clay. There are currently areas of standing water that don't drain. They haven't been leaving the run until recently, about 3 or so weeks ago. I suspect that my birds regularly build up worm loads.
I'm going to give the treatment a try.

Update on Lucy.
She's had her second dose of Safeguard and Corid drench last night and her fifth dose of Amoxicillin this morning.
She had a little more food in her crop last night. She still won't sit on the roost. You can see her standing in this snapshot from last night.

She's still got a lot of strength as she fought me like a demon when I was giving her this mornings dose of antibiotic.
She was out with the flock instead of isolating herself so she must be feeling a little better.
No improvement in the poop department or abdominal swelling. Still stands too tall.
She's the WLH with the flopped over comb next to my 'never molted' White Rock.

Lucy seems to have recovered. She's no longer doing the penguin stance and is acting her normal self.
I think she laid this wonky egg.

It's either her or the other WLH.

This is her today.

I treated with piperazine because they had large round worms.

I will give her a dose a safeguard tonight. I'm reading a dosage of 10-50 mg/Kg. I'll give her 35 mg/Kg and repeat in 10 days.

I believe I have fishmox. What dose should she have? She is 4 pounds.

I will also get the fluids in her during tonight's treatment. I also don't see the harm in giving her a daily Corid drench for 5 days.

I hope this helps her.

Thank you both!
Be sure to not give any vitamins while giving Corid.
