Suspicious fighting roosters set-up next door; new neighbors

Okay the big question is - What do the chickens look like?

Cockfighters only breed gamefowl, as they're the only breeds that will do the job well.

Because otherwise, people into fighting do indeed keep lots of hens, usually they're in separate pens or even running loose, it all depends, but also normal breeders keep lots of roosters too.

They sound dodgy to me. I would become acquainted with Animal Control or whichever dept. would respond to a call about CF's. They could be breeding a gamecock breed but who EATS those birds? If you want meat and eggs, those aren't the breeds to spend time, money and space on. If someone is potentially hurting animals or going to create an environment where they could open your flock to contagious diseases (who knows where their birds travel to or who comes to their property) I would keep my eyes and ears open until you have proof otherwise.

I hope they aren't what they seem to be. A good heads up on your part.

OP said you walked there properity? So where you invited in to see everything and not just what you can see from where you are?

ReikiStar, Game cocks make good meat birds

Well, one thing to look for is if they have trimmed off the comb and waddles. I watch way to much Animal Cops and those seem to be the big give aways when they confiscate fighting birds.

Again, people who preserve and breed Gamefowl just for the love of the breed dub combs/wattles too. . . .

Also Gamefowl do make good meat birds.

I would mind my own business too.

And as far as dubbing combs and wattles, some breeds call for it, for show.

And if you have any roo that has an extra large comb, like a Leg Horn you are doing them a service to eat and drink better if you trim their comb.

Their breeders could be at another location, most people are very closed mouth if they raise any type of Game Birds because people assume they are using them for illegal activity.

Huh, I did not know that. They always acted on the show like that was one of the major clues they looked for. Go figure.

Whatever you do I'd be careful. People can get nasty, legal activities or not.
