Hi all, first time hatching fertile eggs - my sussex has just pushed out 4 of her 6 eggs. Should I place them before under? I’m concerned are they bad or maybe she couldn’t get them back up on the lip of her broodie box....

What day is she on? Did you candle them?

Looks like she's locked in already.. they may be bad, or infertile, or not. It could be an accident that they're out.

Depending on what day their on... the sniff test can help and so can candling.. Use the ones she didn't lose for comparison. If you're going to return them doing so asap is suggested or keep them warm until dark and tuck them in then if they still look like they might be viable.

Thanks heaps - I’ve candled them and to me they seem fertile - we are on day 4 or 5. I’ve put them back under he and will see how she goes.
