My 3 month old Plymouth Barred Rock hen just pecked the pearl earring from my ear yesterday. Will it be in her crop forever? Anyone have experience in this nuttiness?

My vet has offered to Xray her.

Thanks for any input!

It will probably enter and reside in her gizzard where it will be used to grind her food. There is only one sure way of getting it back. Anyone for chicken and dumplings? Sorry, wish the prognosis was better. She might pass it, but I think her digestive juices will cause real damage. Hope it was not really valuable or of sentimental value.

Coop her up in a separate crate & sift through everything & hope for the best----but I can tell you, years ago one of our Chinese geese sucked a black pearl earring right out of my ear lobe! - and we never retrieved it.
Don't know about chickens; maybe somebody will chime in who has experience w/them...

Might be best to just go order a replacement & call it an early birthday/anniversary/Christmas present, etc. !

I have retrieved auto waterer parts from turkey crops you coultry expressing her crop by pushing everything back out if not you could always butcher her its probably not what you want to do but you have weigh the value of the earing and the bird.
