My husband and I had all the swan species before we moved to our new place out west. They are beautiful birds but I've always had a preference for geese. Swans never seemed particularly intelligent to me but I always loved the coscorobas. We have got rid of all the Bewick's, tundras, black-necked, blacks, whoopers and trumpeters and now just keep a big flock of coscoroba. Seeing the flock of 20+ on the lawn really looks like a flock of red beaked snow geese! We cook or bake with eggs now because we don't want to crowd them and don't need the babies.
One of these days I will have some. I love Swans but it is unfair to get them now. I will get them as soon as I get the property that has a large pond or lake for them. I already have the plans drawn up for their compounds to keep them safe.
