Swans

I have a friend who is looking for some swans. What are they like? Are they difficult to keep around?

I have Black Swans, and I love them. Mine are very friendly, get along well with all my other fowl ( they still run them off from time to time but not attack anything)... and seem to enjoy interacting with me.
They are fairly easy to keep as long as you have a good size pond for what you have and fresh food etc....

I have blacks, and mute, the key thing is a nice sized pond, they don't require much else. Some are mean, and some are nice just depends on the birds.

I'm from Michigan between Saginaw and Midland and I am thinking of selling some mute swans. If your friend has a pond with some aquatic vegetation they don't need much supplemental food except in the winter. They would need an area of water that would not freeze over in the in the winter. Your friend should check out the Ohio department of natural resources on line because many state regulate swans.
