Perhpas putting together a mailing list for future interested parties would be a good idea...I came upon this site a bit too late for this last go round, but I'm in for future meets.

I think that sounds like a great idea. Actually I've had the thought that maybe we could entertain the idea of starting a "club."

Really it scares me to even mention it 'cuz I'm afraid of clubs in a way. They so often end up loaded with politics and people on their own self serving journeys, but since I've been on this site and around "chicken people," what I've seen that's so different about them is they are, across the board interested in sharing what they know with the newcomer. I haven't encountered one person, yet, that has behaved like they were out for themselves, and only interested in promoting their animals. I've bred and shown horses and dogs, and started and belonged to clubs in both of those and they ended the same way, political struggles with folks consumed with their own self serving messages. The clubs was merely a vehicle for their promotion.
Jen, you seem to be so very good at organizing things and motivating people, I just wonder what you think of the idea?

Ok after much thought and intrest I think its time to have a Southern Ohio poultry meet up group. Columbus has one but we dont have one in Dayton or Cinci yet. I will talk to Andy today and get the ball rolling. If you don't know Andy he is the Chicken Whisper and you can check his show out on www.Blogtalkradio.com/backyardpoultry . He is also on facebook He helps organizer these meetup groups.

Ok I got all the info to get it started. It will cost some money to get it started but the chicken whisper gave me a coupon code for 1/2 off and I will go ahead and pay for the start up fee now and maybe pass a hat on the first meeting. It will be pretty simple to get started but before I do anything I need everyones help. We need a name for our group so for the next few days lets start a new post finding a name for our meetup group once we get that done I will move forward and make the website. Jen you can help organize since you did an awsome job with the chicken swap.
