SWEDISH Duck Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow sounds like I should get a KC then. I almost crossed them off the list but I definitely need to add one now

I mean read up on the breeds and see what one's fit you best and all ducks will eventually get used to being held its all about how much time you spend with them

EEEEEEEEE Nat!! They are cute. The bottom boy is beyond gorgeous. What are their names? Do you see web prints in the mud?

Haha thanks Julie. :hugs
I haven't named these yet. They are offspring of Juice and Tiggy. 1 girl is solid black, the other has 3 white feathers on her chest. I have called the boy Daffy, but not sure it is sticking. Open to suggestions ;)

It's so wet and muddy, there are webbie prints everywhere! :D

Oh and relatively quiet or at least not obnoxious

Your situation sounds very similar to mine.
I wanted 6 calm, good layers.
I got my ducks from Metzer Farms. If you want breed info I highly suggest you check out there websight. They have a great duck comparison chart.
I ended up getting 3 Welsh girls, 2 Cayuga ( one was eaten by a mink this winter

)
And one white layer. They are all very calm sweet ducks. I Am going to be replacing my missing Cayuga and getting two blue Swedish ( I am in love with how they look) this spring.
Also, it can work but is usually not recommended to house ducks with chickens.
The chickens could pop on the ducks, ducks are messy with water etc.

Thank you for the help! I will check out their website. Sorry about your girl

And oh yes, they would definitely have their own pen.

I am thinking I might finish the new chicken coop first though, it's almost done.

You're welcome. Juice and Tiggy did amazing with their show stopper kids. Seriously. I've always loved Tiggy's greenish wingbar. I can almost make out this girl's. As for the boy, he is in need of a masculine but not over the top name. Hmmm...
