Hi everyone,
I am new to the wonderful world of Duck Mothering. My sister and I recently purchased two black swedish females from Metzer farms. Well, our girls are now 5 weeks old and are beginning to grow these beautiful green feathers in their wings, tails, and heads. We bought our ducks sexed, and we are aware that drakes from many differnt species of ducks turn green, so we are just lightly concerned that we may have boys. I don't know if this green coloring is common amoung black sweds, so if anyone knows why this is happening, I'd really appreciate it.

I was given a beautiful little duckling to keep one company that I hatched out. It was a huge blue and yellow duckling (I would have swore it was a boy since it was a new hatchling and twice the size of my Runner) and I was told it was a Swedish.
I guess not since she grew up to be a chocolate color but she has a beautiful bib and is a good girl named Francis. The owner is amazed she turned out chocolate since hers are supposedly all blue.
I actually hate to tell anyone she is considered a Swedish.
