Swedish Flower Hen Chickens

Hello, Lower Michigan here and back and forth to Florida. Have seen many breeders on here with nice looking birds. But would like to find at least close to what I like to save time raising them. But then again, most of the fun is watching them grow. Its like some people say...... Who needs TV when you have chickens. Thanks for the reply.

Greenfire (I think I saw some on their site), or a local serious breeder if you can find one. You can usually find a good variety of hatching eggs on eBay, but not so much this time of year. I believe there’s a buying & selling section on here as well.

BTW since you posted this in intros I’m assuming you’re new to BYC. Welcome to the flock! :welcome

Hello, Yes just joined here , but have read Backyard chickens many times. Its a bond here, that we all love the family of chickens and the love they show back to us. I like several breeds of chickens but more is not always better if not a lot of room for them.

Hi there and welcome to BYC.

What part of Fl do you travel to? I live outside Orlando. I was recently looking for 55 Flowery Hens which often get confused for SFH, and someone I know found the SFH for me. I don't know what they look like in regards to quality as it's not what I wanted. If you'd like though I can make a call today and see if I can get some pictures. They are also somewhere in the central fl area.

Welcome to BYC! We’re glad you’ve joined!
I cannot help with the SFH in your area, but if you are short on space, consider Coturnix quail! :thumbsup They are tiny, good layers and best of all, cold hardy! Give them good bedding (like straw), and they are happy as can be through the winter.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Swedish flowers are so pretty!!:love Unfortunately I have no idea where you might get them. You might check Sandhill Preservation for them... https://www.sandhillpreservation.com/poultry

Good luck!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Good luck finding the quality and color SFH you are looking for.
FWIW, a NN would do just fine in Michigan with the same winterization you would do for any other chicken breed.
